TOM

Tom has Pierre Robin Sequence, He was has also had a cleft palate which was repaired on 11th September 2000. Tom also has Cerebro Costo Mandibular Syndrome as a result has gaps in some of his ribs as well as a con caved ribs. Tom was put onto a c-pap by night January 2002 due to his respiratory problems. Tom also has conductive hearing loss of which he has hearing aids for. Tom also wears glasses. Since Tom was born he has spent a lot of time in and out of hospital for both illness as well as check up appointments. Unlike me Tom enjoys his visits to hospital he has a fantastic relationship with all of his doctors consultants and the nurses who regularly look after him. Tom of course has moments where he finds some of the tests he has uncomfortable and at times they can be pain full to. Tom has moments where he feels frustrated but through it all still manages to find a way to cope allowing him to smile and push through to the other end. Tom has found other parts of his life far more difficult upsetting and hurt full then his trips to and from hospital. Having a strained no existing relationship with his biological father to name a few. Being excluded from his half brothers lives and the bullying he's received over the years he says is much worse.

Tom is a happy cheeky chap who has so much love for his little sister and his little brother both whom tease him wind him up yet look up to him. Tom has so much love and respect for the man who became his dad and for me my boy really does love and respect me even if I do put my foot down. Tom never allows his medical issues to get the better of him he always try's hard at everything he does. Tom is a bright lad with a hell of a future in front of him after all he has managed to bag himself his first of several GCSE's this summer (2015). A solid B in Science.

Tom has developed a real taste for the technology that's on offer. he particularly enjoys gaming with his dad although we do make sure that all games are appropriate before hand. Tom loves rugby basketball he does enjoy a game of football too. Tom is well into art and loves nothing more than to be creative. Tom has always enjoyed building with bricks he loves to collect bits of wood too so he can use them in whatever he chooses to build next. It drives me mad at times as you can expect to find pieces left lying around making a mess. Tom has issues with clearing up after himself you see and when he does attempt to tidy up its a half a job effort much to my dismay. Tom tells me when he leaves school he wants to get a good job with good pay so he can buy himself a red sports car with no roof. A nice big house but he's not to keen on the idea of a wife and kids just yet thank goodness. So wishes to become an Architect and with the glowing report from his work experience at Glen Howells not to mention his recent school reports and weekly achievements he is definitely on course to achieving his goals of a red sports car big house good job with excellent pay.

As you can see Tom is just a regular kid no different to any other kids yet he's a very special kid with something extra. He is Tom he is our Tom and we love him very much!

We have a very big 17 year old rocking our family. Happy Birthday sunshine you've achieved so much more than every expected grown into a handsome young man with much more to offer.
